We are delighted to be able to offer for sale the first of two DB4s to be rebuilt to full GT Specification under our instruction. “VGR 420” started that journey just over 6 years ago and took approximately 2 years to complete and was delivered to its last keeper on the 31st of October 2007. The aim, which was achieved, was to completely rebuild and restore a standard DB4 to Full GT Specification, with the end result being undistinguishable from one of the 75 Touring styled cars originally produced. The base DB4 which is matching numbers and was complete at the start of this process, was completely stripped down and had its body removed by Spray Tec Restorations. After its chassis had been stripped back to bare metal, it was sent to Body Lines Specialist Panel Beaters who then reduced its wheel base and constructed, by hand, a brand new body made out of thinner gauge Aluminium, with the popular features of the GT being incorporated to the build. Some of these included the deletion of the rear seating and locating the fuel tank to the luggage compartment. We charged R.S. Williams Ltd to rebuild the engine to 4.7 Litre Twin Plug Specification and the engine is now tuned for fast road use and town driving. This rebuild was carried out at great expense. It was equipped with a comprehensive Ride and Handling Package and uprated braking system. Every detail of this motor car is correct, albeit with more comfortable seating. The DB4 is also fitted with recently factory refurbished Borrani Alloy Wheels of the correct style for the GT. Its owner has used it without fault over the past four years and has taken it to the Le Mans on three occasions. On its first outing it won best of show at an informal concours and was awarded the prize by Dr Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin. It has recently visited Spray Tec for a full inspection and is now offered for sale without fault, presented in Aston Martin Black Pearl with Soft Tan Hide Seating and Beige carpeting. |
